Charlie was brought to the Atlanta Humane Society when his previous owner could no longer afford the care he needed. See, Charlie was extremely overweight and had torn both of his ACLs. Unfortunately, his weight meant he was not a candidate for the surgery he needed to walk pain-free again, so his loving foster family went straight to work helping him get active!
After several months of hydrotherapy along with a regimented diet and exercise plan, Charlie got some good news: he was clear for surgery!
The surgery Charlie needed is called a TPLO, or Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy, and it required an orthopedic specialist to perform. Just a few weeks after his intense surgery, Charlie is finally able to walk pain-free for the first time in years. He still has several weeks of recovery left, but this lucky pup has stolen the hearts of his foster family, and they’ll be making his adoption official as soon as Charlie is ready! Congratulations, buddy!
